Transportation Options

Transportation Options (TO), otherwise known as Transportation Demand Management (TDM), is a set of strategies, plans, and programs that influence travel behavior for the purpose of reducing or redistributing the demand on roads. It also looks at strategies that improve the efficiency of the existing transportation system. The primary purpose of TO is to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles using road facilities, while providing a wide variety of mobility options. This can be achieved by promoting and implementing projects that support bike, pedestrian, transit infrastructure and programs. 


The Central Lane MPO is a partner of the regional TO program, Point2point. Point2point (formerly Commuter Solutions), housed at the Lane Transit District (LTD) offers a coordinated menu of tools, encouragement, information, and activities to promote:
  • Walking
  • Biking
  • Car/vanpooling
  • Carsharing
  • Telework
  • Transit use
